refreshing rains!

Almost every evening this week the storm clouds gathered up and put on a show of lightning and rain. We have a thermometer and we watch to see how cool it will go. 75 degrees is about as low as it goes. Saturday night we had a light show like we have never seen before. The lightning strikes were incredible. It went on for over an hour, and the strikes were very close, too close!
A sad note is that on the way to church some of us saw roofs off houses and downed power lines.

saturday afternoon
we piled in the van and went touring. The dam was the first stop. Nothing like a tour in the states! We just looked and went wherever we wanted. The second stop was shopping in LeBamba town, a pop. of about 5000. The guys were not impressed! Next was the TV and radio station, we all liked the AC.

after church on Sunday,
we took naps, went swimming and waited in anticipation, our night out for dinner at a local restaurant in Dakar, a small village of 600 near Bongolo. We enjoyed, chicken, fish, smoked fish and spinach, fried plantains, fried sweat potatoes, cooked manioc leaves, and rice. It was a good time and we tasted some of the local food.

monday morning and we are back to work!

Our Vonage phone seemed to fall victim of an electrical storm. We called our local surgeon, Keir Thelander, who is also, computer, electrical, and internet savvy. He just stopped by and got our phone working again.

We have much to praise the Lord!

Looks like your Sunday meal was similar to the one we had at CMA for Sweet On Seniors! Although I expect our Seniors were considerably more comfortable than you folks. We're all eager for your safe return and your interesting tales. mary j

P.S. I've never "blogged" before, so not sure if you'll get this.

P.P.S. Working on 2nd floor should at least help you keep away from mambas!

It has been great receiving the "Blogs" on your journey. We are praying for strength and stamina, especially with the humidity. As your time is starting to wind down, may you be a blessing to others and receive blessings in return. We are anxious to share your story with you when you get back...maybe plan a small group meeting at your house?? Praying for a safe trip home, God Bless Shirley & Randy

Hi you guys! Just wanted to say we have been praying for you and will continue to pray for you as you head home, especially for tummies as you ride the bouncy roads, Rusty's back (ouch) and that you all have your dreams come true (of socks, Burger King—or was it MacDonalds?.... a yeah for Burger King!) when you arrive home. We have so appreciated your blog and pictures these last few weeks. Sorry we haven't written by blog but, like Mary Johnson, we've never blogged before. We decided to take the plunge, however, and set up an account so we could write you. John D, we're ready to have our good neighbor back home. And not just because our driveway needs your snow removal services :) Love you and appreciate you all. You are such a blessing to all, Vicki and Bob
